Pathway to Joy Ministries

About Us

Pathway to JoyPTJM founders, Cornel & Karen Bucur, have been involved in missions in Romania since 1995. Since then, Cornel helped develop a network of 6 FM radio stations that now blanket Romania with 24-hour Christian radio. He and Karen also led summer camp programs for children from state orphanages. In the course of these activities, they discovered a large population of abandoned children living in institutions and on the streets, their lives often cut short by hunger, illness, neglect and exploitation. They founded Pathway to Joy Ministries (PTJM) with desire to provide services dedicated to helping restore these children.

Today, PTJM continues to provide services to children and families in crisis by providing them with food, clothing, shelter, medical care and other critically needed assistance. God is using our efforts to transform the lives of children and to share the Gospel, which offers forgiveness and hope to all who believe.

Recognizing that the root of the social problems in Romania today are due in part to the presence of sin, we felt God calling us to broaden our ministry objectives to include a church planting work. We believe that our focus upon the spiritual needs of these people is our best preventive measure against future child neglect and abandonment, and the Scriptural means for a brighter future for all Romanians!

In summary, PTJM exists to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by offering Protection, Provision and Permanent solutions to the orphan children of Romania. Our vision is to empower the church and community to care for orphan children and families in crisis through the love of God.

PTJM seeks partnership from individuals, churches, corporations, and foundations in their service among the Romanian people. We believe in presenting the needs of God's people to others, and allowing the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of those He wants to respond in some way. PTJM also cooperates with other humanitarian agencies, NGOs and other specialized agencies.

PTJM offers opportunities for local church groups and short-term mission teams to assist in ministry and construction projects.
