Is it the responsibility of today’s Church to defend and
care for orphans? Throughout the Bible God demonstrates
His specific expectations on behalf of the alien,
the orphan, and the widow. Isaiah 1:17 instructs us to “Learn to do good; seek justice, help the oppressed, defend
the cause of orphans.”Christ also reminds us: “If anyone
gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little
ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will
certainly not lose his reward.” (Matthew 10:42).
Orphan CARE Sunday Begins with Accepting
God’s Challenge
How does an abandoned child survive alone in an orphanage? What causes a 12 year old to run away and choose
street life over a warm bed in the orphanage? Fear, terror
and uncertainty consume the hearts of over 80,000
children and youth living in state “orphanages” throughout
Romania.
• On any given day in Oradea, Romania 110+ of these
kids are spending their developing years in the local “orphanage”
coping with the loss of family, security and
opportunity.
• On any given day in Oradea, Romania 70+ abandoned
babies and toddlers are left in the care of an underresourced
children’s hospital.
• Each year more than 9,000 children are abandoned in
the hospitals and institutions of Romania due to poverty.
The slow road to government reform nationwide is
cementing these orphaned children inside walls of pain
and destruction. As long as they remain in government
institutions and hospitals, they will continue to suffer.
Pathway to Joy Ministries is stepping in to help rescue,
restore, and provide hope for these orphans. Together
we can transform the lives of hundreds and thousands of
children through our child sponsorship program.
Orphan CARE Sunday Begins with a Plan
Through Orphan CARE Sunday, you can become a child
advocate by sharing the story of these suffering children
in Romania. We are pulling these children out of poverty
and pain and igniting a spark of hope for their future
through church-based programs that offer:
• Christian foster care
• Nutritious food
• Critical health care
• Clothing
• Education and mentoring
• Spiritual growth and character development
Orphan CARE Sunday Begins with You
On May 17, host you own Orphan CARE Sunday — and become
a voice for the orphaned and needy children of Romania
who would otherwise have no voice. They are waiting
for us to make a real life-long impact in their lives.
When we make the decision to give to the poor and the
oppressed, the results are matchless:
And if you give yourself to the hungry
And satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
Then your light will rise in darkness
And your gloom will become like midday.
And the Lord will continually guide you,
And satisfy your desire in scorched places,
And give strength to your bones;
And you will be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
Isaiah 58:10-11
