In December 2003, I was 8 months old and weighted only 9 lbs. At that time, God had mercy on me and I met Helen from Canada. This is what she wrote about me at that time; "Six weeks ago when I started working in the Children′s Hospital a totally undernourished orphan baby, Malvina, was assigned to me by "Pathway to Joy" staff.
Apparently, she was always vomiting and could not keep her food down. Since I became her ′private nurse′ two months ago, she has gained about one third of her weight. I believe it is just because I am taking the time to feed her, burp her during and after meals, and offer my love. In the short time, I have been caring for Malvina she has totally changed. She is alert and stronger - now even being able to hold her head up. People who had not seen her for a while said that I had definitely saved her life. What a privilege to be used by God to help her! I hope and pray that a foster family will be found for her soon, especially since I am leaving in a month and a half."
Well, by the grace of God my life was spared and I was given a loving foster family whom I love so much. I will always be indebted to God and to you for your prayers and support.
Malvina has been attending kindergarten for the last six months and loves it. Her language ability improved and is very social. Recently while visiting us at the office she took a mop and washed the floors a few times while her foster mom was meeting with a social worker. A few days ago, Malvina went to a village to visit someone. People in the village wash their clothes in large buckets, she saw someone doing just that. Later in the day, Malvina took some clothes and began washing them to everyone′s amazement.
Malvina is growing and learning so fast. She lives her childhood with such a fervor enjoying everything life has to offer. What a big difference from the day we found her abandoned at the Oradea Children′s Hospital.
I want to thank you for the contribution you had in her life through prayer and financial support. Please do not stop! Many abandoned children like Malvina are waiting for someone to "show up" in their lives by loving and caring for them. Please share this need with your church family and friends. Together we could do so much more.
