Calvary Chapel Tinca

CC Tinka"I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." - Matthew 16:18

In September 2004, PTJM president, Cornel Bucur, was asked by a Gypsy believer from Tinca, Romania to come to his village to teach the Word of God to a small group of Gypsies. The first meeting had 10 people in attendance. Cornel taught a few books of the Bible and in no time the Friday night Bible study grew into a small church body where God brought in new people each week.

"The Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." - Acts 2:47

For the first year or so, they met in a run down church building that was abandoned 10 years ago. The Lord continued to work and many more people accepted the Lord as their Savior. We had a few baptism services and the fellowship grew to 200. In December 2005, right after Christmas, we were asked to vacate the building and we moved into a small house that fit only 60 people. In the interim, we began searching for other properties to rent or purchase, but to no avail. Either people would not sell to us because of racism, or the price they were asking was too high.

CC Tinka2In April 2006, the owner sold the house where we were meeting in, and we were again without a church home. A few weeks later, we held an open air Easter baptism service with over 450 people in attendance. Nine people were baptized and four more people accepted the Lord as their Savior. The church is growing and together we are praying and trusting God for a permanent meeting place. Our congregation was made up of very poor Gypsy believers. The Romanian population is very racist, and for this reason, we were unable to find additional space to rent.  We needed a permanent building.

God provided in a big way!  Currently Tinca has a Church building with plenty of space for the congregation and the staff that works their.  Construction is nearing completion of a youth ministry center on the property that will house outreach events like concerts and hopefully regular youth meetings.  Also a house is in the process of being converted to a children’s ministry center.

Current Needs
We are in need of staff to fill all these wonderful buildings that God has provided.  Pray that God raises his servants to lead these projects so we can see a fulfillment of a dream that started when a few believers sought out our ministry to start a simple bible study.
