Last night at 10 p.m. Romanian times our ministry van caught on fire in front of our house. Our son, Ben had just arrived home half an hour earlier from a day at the ministry at the local orphanage. An hour earlier it was full of children. I thank the Lord that the children and our son were safe, and that the fire didn’t spread to our home. Together with four other people we fought for 30 minutes to save the vehicle before the fire truck came. It was a no-win situation.
This van (VW Transporter 2002) had nine seats and large cargo space in the back was used by us; to take the orphans to church on Sunday, camps in the summer, nature walks, to celebrate birthdays in town, to bring teams from the airport, to take food to the poor, the orphaned and the widows.
It was a 2002 vehicle we purchased in 2004, and we paid $18,000. We used the van for 15 years and still had lots of life left in it. The fire department declared it a total loss.
To purchase the same vehicle, we would need $27,000. Brand new is over $40,000. Please join us in prayer for the resources we are going to need to replace this vehicle to be able to continue our work.
Your gift will help us reach this goal. Thank you!
Love in Christ,
Cornel and Karen Bucur.
